The Department of Anaesthesiology, Government Medical College, Omandurar Government Estate, Chennai, in association with The Dean, cordially organized a Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme on “Pain Management” on 19th July 2025 (Saturday) at 9:00 AM in the Auditorium, Tower I, 7th Floor, GMC–OGE Campus, Chennai.
The CME was presided over by
Prof. Dr. A. Aravind, M.D., D.M. (MGE) – The Dean,
along with Dr. G. Thiruvengada Senthil Kumar, M.S. – Medical Superintendent, and
Dr. M. Lucy Nirmal Medona, M.D. – Vice Principal.
The event commenced with a Welcome Address and Felicitation, followed by the Presidential Address delivered by the Dean, Prof. Dr. A. Aravind.
The scientific session that followed provided an in-depth exploration into modern concepts of pain management, addressing both acute and chronic pain and emphasizing a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
Highlights included a presentation on:
“Can Exercise Manage Pain – A Sports Medicine Approach” by Dr. Kannan Pugazhendi, M.S.M., a renowned expert in sports medicine and rehabilitation.
The CME aimed to enhance clinical understanding, update current practices, and encourage evidence-based approaches in pain management, benefitting medical professionals, postgraduate students, and healthcare workers alike.
The session concluded with an interactive discussion and a vote of thanks, reflecting the department’s continued commitment to academic excellence and patient-centered care.
